يا مسافر ومش راجع

اللي عايز يسافر ويهج من البلد هو حر، لكن ماتقعدش بقى تبكتنا وتطهقنا في عيشتنا وتقول آه يا بلد مليانة فساد وآه يا بلد مفيهاش قانون والكلام اللي يغم النفس ده.

حضرتك اخترت إنك تمشي عشان مش طايق يا حرام كمية الهباب اللي احنا فيه خلاص شيلنا من دماغك بقى...مش إنت دلوقتي في عز ونعيم والناس قلوبها بيضا بالظبط زي وشوشهم ومفيش جرايم ولا تسيب ولا انحلال أخلاقي ولا عنصرية ولا أي حاجة خالص؟

خلاص سيبنا بقى نصوت براحتنا على المدونات ونحاول نعمل اللي بيسموه أضعف الإيمان، مش أحسن من اللي عمال يتأمر وهو قاعد على وراكه؟

أربعة مواقف قبل بدء عيد التحرش

الموقف الأول:
اليوم السابع نشرت خبر تحرش شاب بسيدة وهي بتصلي في الجامع.
تخيلوا؟
ده عشان اللي بيقولوا إن البنات اللي "لابسة عريان" هما اللي الشباب بيتحرش بيهم والملتزمات "في لبسهم" عمر أبداً أبداً أبداً ما حد بيبصلهم.
يعني يا ربي المكان الوحيد اللي الواحد بيحس فيه بالأمان ينجسوه؟

الموقف الثاني:
المدونة آسر ياسر عاملة جروب على الفيسبوك اسمه "أنا مش هاتحجب وإنت حتتأدب!" وده مش جديد، الجديد بقى إن الجروب اتقفل واتبعتلها رسايل تشتمها وتشتم اللي خلفوها وتخوض في أعراضها وأعراض عيليتها وهددوها إلخ.
السؤال هنا، إزاي حد ممكن يدعو للحجاب وفي نفس الوقت يسب الناس؟ هو مش الدين منظومة واحدة، ياناخدها كلها يا نسيبها كلها، مش ربنا قال إدفع بالتي هي أحسن، وسيدنا محمد (ص) قال ليس المؤمن بطعان ولا لعان ولا فاحش ولا بذئ، يا ترى اللي عنده الفكرتين المتناقضتين تماماً دول في مخه جابهم إزاي ومقتنع بيهم مع بعض إزاي؟ إذا كان بيقولوا إن المش محجبات سايبين جزء من الدين...أمال هما عاملين إيه؟
فين الدين النصيحة، وفين الدين المعاملة؟ وإزاي نستنى من واحدة بتتشتم عشان مش محجبة إنها تحب الحجاب أو تفكر تلبسه؟

الموقف الثالث:
الأهرام ناشرة النهاردة بالبنط العريض إن الداخلية ناشرة بوليس سري لعدم تكرار حوادث التحرش في العيد.

الخبر ده لو صحيح في ظباط هينفذوا وفي ظباط هيطنشوا، بس كل اللي بيحارب الوكسة دي كسبان، لإن أخيراً الجرايد ادت للموضوع حجمه وأخيراً في أفراد في الداخلية بقوا بياخدوا الموضوع بجدية، الموضوع كان نايم ودلوقتي بقى على كل لسان، وده في حد ذاته مكسب، عشان اللي مش بيديلك حقك لازم تاخده من حباب عينيه...

الموقف الرابع:
الشيخ صفوت حجازي طلع النهاردة في مع الشيخ محمد جبريل...وبيقول إذا كان اللي ماشية في الشارع شبه عريانة بتقول دي حرية شخصية، يبقى اللي بيعاكس برضو عنده حرية شخصية.

تيجي إزاي دي يا عم الشيخ؟ أولاً خلينا نتفق على نقطة، أنا ماشفتش في حياتي واحدة شبه عريانة غير على الشواطئ، ودي غلطة الفنادق إنها سايبة الموضوع على البحري مع إن أوروبا نفسها في شواطئ العري ممنوع فيها، فلما ييجوا هنا عشان يقلعوا تماماً يبقى إنت بتقوللهم إن مصر مافيهاش نظام ولا قوانين ولا يحزنون. وبعدين هي دي طريقة دعوى؟ إلبسي الحجاب يا إما أي حد يقفش فيكي براحته بقى؟ ده اسمه إرهاب فكري وبيمهد للإرهاب الفعلي بقى...المفروض البنات لما يسمعوا كلامك حيحبوا الحجاب إزاي؟ في الحالة دي حيلبسوه لمجرد إنهم خايفين لكن تصرفاتهم بقى أجارك الله يا شيخ يا محترم.
هو ده بقى اللي بتقولوه للناس في خطب الجمعة وخطبة العيد والأخطر في التليفزيون...لوم كامل للمرأة وكأن الله مأمرش بغض البصر والتحكم في الغرائز...إزاي واحدة عايزة تلبس قميص وبنطلون وتنزل تشتغل أو تشارك في مظاهرة أو تروح الجامعة أو تعمل خير تساويها بواحد صايع ضايع بينتهك حرمة الجسد وتقول عليه حر؟ هو مش أعراض الناس حرام؟ هو مش ربنا خلق المرأة لأسباب تانية كتييييييير غير إنها تتحجب وبس؟ يعني يا سيادة الشيخ لما نيجي نسأل بعد كده هو التحرش منتشر ليه نعرف إن إنت وأمثالك السبب؟

المثل البليغ دي ينطبق بحذافيره على مشكلة التحرش الجنسي، الرجالة اللي مبرطعين في الشارع وبيعاكسوا اللي رايحة واللي جاية بكلمات قذرة مش لاقيين حد يلمهم، الأمن معظمهم إيدك والأرض لسبب بسيط إنهم مش موجودين أصلاً في الشارع. شيء غريب فعلاً، عاصمة فيها 20 مليون شخص قرفانين وغلابة ومفقوع مرارتهم مفيش ولا ظابط يوحد ربنا يبقى موجود يفض الاشتباكات أو يحمي الناس اللي ماشية في الشارع، عشان كده لازم نلم المتحرشين بنفسنا.

المتحرشين ابتدعوا طرق وأساليب متعددة وتفننوا إنهم يعكننوا على بنات الناس لمجرد الغلاسة، على فكرة اللي بيتحرش ده مابيحسش بأي متعة مطلقاً، و"الهياج اللي بيقولوا إن احنا بنسببه نتيجة لإنهم بيفضلوا مبقحلين على جسم البنت ومابيودوش وشهم الناحية التانية لكن في النهاية برضو بيلوموا البنت.

بما إن التحرش فنون وأنواع ودرجات فنصيحة اللي يقولك كلمة مالهاش لازمة زي ما لسة واحد دلوقتي قايل لي "طير إنت !!" طنشي خالص ولا كأن حد بيتكلم...على فكرة أنا أي حد بيتنفس جنبي باتضايق بس بجد لو وقفت لكل متخلف منهم عالواحدة يبقى مانزلش من البيت أحسن.

لكن لازم، لازم، تصرخي وتزعقي وتعملي فضيحة وتخلي جموع الشعب تتلم لحد ما ياخدوه عالبوكس أو ياخده أخوكي أو جوزك أو أبوكي...إلخ لو المعاكسة ليها طابع جنسي...اللي يتكلم عن جسمه أو جسمك حتى لو بشكل غير مباشر، اللي يقول لك تعالي إعملي كذا، اللي يمد إيده قاصد، اللي يشدك من هدومك، لازم تفضحيه، مالناش كرامة من هنا ورايح لو سبناهم يهينونا كده.

طنط حشرية بتاعتي

كل بنت مصرية لازم يبقى عندها طنط حشرية خاصة بيها، طنط حشرية دي شخصية أسطورية ابتدعتها (أو استوحتها من إحدي المعارف) المدونة غادة عبد العال في مدونة عايزة أتجوز.

الخلفية التاريخية لطنط حشرية:
طنط حشرية من نعومة أظافرها بتحلم بالعريس اللي حينجيها من شبح الع**** اللي حيهاجمها طبعاً أول ما تتخرج من الجامعة (أو من المدرسة حسب الظروف) وأول ما جالها العريس اللي في وظيفة حكومية الملتزم دينياً وافقت وكتبوا كتب الكتاب على طول خطوبة إيه وقلة أدب إيه يا راجل؟ وبعدين احنا اللي يدخل عندنا مايخرجش. وأفنت طنط حشرية حياتها في تربية أبنائها الذكور على أساس إن البنت مالهاش غير جوزها وبيتها هما اللي يربوها ثم التنكيد على مراتت أبنائها والاتصال يوم الصباحية للتأكد من فض غشاء البكارة على أكمل وجه ثم الاتصال في اليوم التالي وكل يوم لتسأل: ها...مفيش أخبار؟
أفهم إن واحدة تبقى ملهوفة ومهفوفة إنها تشوف أحفادها، لكن إنها تسأل الناس التانية اتخطبوا ولا لسة وحملوا ولا لسة فده فعلاً أسلوب سخيف، يعني الارتباط والحمل والجواز ده غير إنه نصيب، هو كمان مسئلة شخصية بحتة، يعني إلا إذا كانت جايبة عريس لواحدة مش المفروض إنها تسأل ضحايها بخبث كدهون يعني...

المصيبة إن ماما كانت شايفة إن مختار ابنها (تخبيلوا لسة في ناس بتسمي اسم مختار في جيلنا ده) مناسب ليا لمجرد إنه خريج هندسة. مختار ده من نوع اللي كان بيشوفني يقوم ناطر وشه الناحية التانية ويشوفني ماشية ينزل من الرصيف ويجري لدرجة إني اقتنعت إنه خايف مني لسبب ما، وبعدين فهمت إنه بيغض البصر. مش مهم بقى إن تربيته منغلقة جداً عني ومركزه الاجتماعي مختلف وثقافته مختلفة وغالباً عايز واحدة منقبة أو بتلبس عبايات سودا أو إزدالات ومابتشتغلش وأنا أبعد ما أكون عن المواصفات دي، برضو ماما كانت شايفة إنه مناسب، ده غير إني مش حاخد واحد بيقرف مني كإني نجسة ومابيقولش حتى سلامو عليكوا.

طب بغض النظر عن أي ذوق أو دين، أنا قريت رسائل كتير كانت جاية لبريد الجمعة من سيدات ماحملوش أو ماتجوزوش وأقصى حاجة بتجرحهم هي كلام ونظرات الناس، يعني هما مؤمنين إن كل شيء بأوانه ومش موقفين حياتهم على كده، بس الناس تسيبهم في حالهم، مفيش، لازم الناس كلها تبقى حشرية لما ماتعوزهومش ولما تعوز منهم حاجة تلاقيهم ادولك ضهرهم.

اليوم التالت: حشرية جات لزقت جنبي مع إن الكوريدور قدام الأسانسير واسع، وكان في واحدة جارتنا كمان واقفة، يعني لزوم التجريس، المهم أول ما دخلنا:
حشرية: إن شاء الله بقى السنة الجاية ماتبقيش معانا.
أنا (بغلاسة): لأ إن شاء الله هبقى معاكوا.
حشرية (وهي خارجة، تقريباً حست إن الكلمة اللي هتقولها حتعرضها لخطر): الله أعلم، يمكن تكوني مخطوبة!!!

مش شيوخ الأزهر الأجلاء يطلعوا لنا فتوى كده يسمحولنا فيها نشتم بعد الفطار؟؟؟ ما أنا مش حفضل أستحمل مناخيرها اللي في بوزي دي كتير، لإني فعلاً اكتشفت إن كظم الغيط صعب جداً.

انقبضت قلوبهم وقفزت من بين ضلوعهم

أسلوب غريب لاحظته في طريقة عرض خبر مقتل اللواء مصطفى زيد مدير مباحث الجيزة بعد ما خبطته عربية "تابعة لإحدى الجهات الحكومية، الصحفي عارض الخبر "في جريدة الأهرام" بشكل عاطفي للغاية ومثير للمشاعر يخليك تقعد تتشحتف وإنت بتقرا، واستخدم تعبيرات مش المعتاد إنها تستخدم في صفحة الحوادث بل ولا في صفحة الوفيات...زي إن اللواء "كان بالأمس فقط يملأ حياتهم" في إشارة لأولاد الضابط وكاتب طريقة تلقي الخبر بشكل ميلودرامي خيالي يؤكد لك إن التفاصيل دي من محض خياله "انتظارهم طال بعض الشئ في هذا اليوم ساورهم القلق وقبل أن يستبد بهم جاء النبأ المفجع عبر التليفون بأن اللواء تعرض لحادث تصادم وهو الآن في المستشفى سارع أفراد الأسرة تسبقهم دموعهم تتوجع قلوبهم لرؤيته والاطمئنان على عائلهم المصاب وأيديهم تتجه بالدعاء إلى الله أن تكون الإصابة بسيطة أو متوسطة وعند وصولهم المستشفى، انقبضت قلوبهم وقفزت من بين ضلوعهم فقد كان المشهد وعلامات الصمت الحزين بالمستشفى ودموع أصدقاء الفقيد تعلن عن الفاجعة لقد رحل الفقيد دون أن يودع أسرته التي اعتادت انتطاره على طعام الإفطار فقد كان الشهيد يؤجل وداعهم إلى الليلة الحزينة، حيث كان من المنتظر أن يسافر لأداء العمرة في هذه الليلة، كما اعتاد كل عام ولكن القدر لم يمهله."

ده ولا أكثر المسرحيات التراجيدية تأثيراً قريت فيها الكلمتين دول...ليه الصحفي والجريدة طبعاً بشكل عام عايزين الظابط يصعب علينا قوي كده؟ طب يا عم ربنا يرحمنا جميعاً ما المآتم دي الحمد لله بتحصل بالآلاف كل سنة في جميع نجوع مصر، بس واضح إنه بيحاول محاولة مستميتة لتحسين صورة الظابط ده والظباط عموماً، مش كفاية الراجل تقي وبيعمل عمرة كل سنة يا ناس؟ هو مش المفروض يعني إن العمرة دي حاجة ما بينه وبين ربنا يعني إيه فايدة إن الناس كلها تعرف إنه كان مسافر عمرة الليلة الحزينة دي؟ لازكم الظابط يبان إنه كان تقي وملتزم ولسه مترقي وعلاقاته الأسرية ممتازة ومتفاني في عمله عشان اللي يطلع بعد كده يقول ضباط الشرطة بيبلطجوا على الناس يردوا عليه يقولوا ما انتاش شايف الظباط اللي بيموتوا في شغلهم وعيالهم بتتيتم عشانكوا؟
بس هي الحقيقة إن كلنا بنموت، وكلنا بنحس، وكلنا عيالنا ممكن تتيتم في أي لحظة، اللي إنتوا مش بنتشروه، لما يكون اللي يتم العيال وقتل عائلهم الوحيد هي الشرطة نفسها.

Once the cafterias are rented...their source of income will drop to the lowest low...These employees, much like many workers in Egypt, are underpaid, many of whom are still classified as "temporary workers" and receive some 300 LE though they have families and have to pay for all the shit each one of us goes through every single day. The lucky among them are permanent and they are paid around 500 LE, so you can pretty much guess how crucial having this "tiny business" is for them. As if the meagre salaries are not enough, the university president has now issued this decision. As if he is envious that they have beans for breakfast, the cheapest food in Egypt, and wants them to fast instead!
The president would probably claim that the university is short of resources, and that this is a good step. I just do not understand why making the 'university' richer has to be the expense of those poor wretches. They work daily for up to 12 hours and do no enjoy any priviledges whatsoever. They bear being transported, carrying heavy loads, being humiliated without having the power to utter a word in protest or even in agony. After all this, after being our servants, if not slaves for tens of years, the university president has decided that they should be sacrificed just because the 'university' is poor. This money isn't going to open computer labs for the students, subsidise their books, add new books to the library, install data shows or ACs in the lecture rooms. This money isn't, for God's sake, going to enlist Ain Shams University among the most distinguished 500 universities in the world. This money is the first step towards laying off all of these employees who are too weak, disease-ridden and powerless to defend themsleves!
One of the professors wondered when she knew about this deal: No one cares for the poor anymore?

Four videos to entertain Mr. President!

President Hosny Mubarak and Barack Obama met recently in Washington to discuss issues of mutual interest to Egypt and the US. Their discussions were fruitful as they tackled the Iranian nuclear weapons file, the peace process and the situation in Darfur. Both presidents expressed their deep concern about the deterioration of human rights in Iran, the Iranian protestors, forging the elections, torturing innocent Iranian people...and all of the unspeakable crimes committed by the Iranian government. They discussed how the international community and the Egyptian government are doing their best to expose and stop such practices. Finally, Obama felt confident that democratic reform in Egypt is a long and complex process, yet it is ongoing and will not stop, God willing, as Mubarak assured. Obama reiterated his profound appreciation of Mubarak's wisdom, justice and bravery. All of this is anticipated and understood. However, I thought of something else: the journey from Washington to Cairo takes more than ten hours...how is Mubarak going to spend it?
Undoubtedly, Mubarak's airplane is fully equipped. Still. the journey is too long, how is the president going to kill time? Is he going to seize the chance of a comfortable nap, to rest his fatigue-ridden body? Is he going to have a conversation with the editors-in-chief of the local newspapers whom he summons every journey? They will, as usual, compete in praising the president's achievements, momentous decisions and historical leadership. The repeated praises will shure bore him, is he going to enjoy some book on the way? Did he take Mahmoud Samy Al-Baroudy's anthology of poems, since he is his favourite poet? I am not exactly sure what the president prefers to do, so I suggest he watches some good videos. They are not long at all; just short documentaries starring not professional actors, not even amateurs, but ordinary citizens. There is nothing particularly special about them. They are among millions of Egyptians who go through hell just to feed their kids and lead dignified lives. The nominated videos are:

1- The first video...we see a young Egyptian man from Port Said being brutally tortured in a police station. In the first scene, the young man appears to have sustained severe cuts and injuries on his back and torso as a result of beating. He has been hung by the hands. He is pleading the police officer for mercy: "Enough...please...Mr. Mohammad...for the sake of the Prophet...enough...I'm dying...Mr. Mohammad."
In the second scene, he is blindfolded and totally devastated. He is crying and begging for sympathy in half-broken sentences: Mr. Mohammad, please have mercy on me, we are human, not animals.
We do not see officer Mohammad, but we can clearly hear him angrily telling the young man to stop and calling him names. Why does Mr. Mohammad sound angry? It's because the young man is screaming while being tortured...which is of course and offense to Mr. Mohammad. It is inappropriate, so the officer believes, that anyone raises their voice to a police officer, even if he is beating and torturing him.
2- The second video...stars an Egyptian woman in her thrities. She is unveiled and dressed in blue jeans and a black t-shirt. An officer beats her severely everywhere with all his might: on her feet, her arms, her head. She screams until her voice fades. In the following scene, we see her hanging horizontally by her hands and feet on an iron bar. Viewers have stated that this position is used in police stations and state security headquarters and called the 'chicken position'. It causes severe pain and tears the muscles apart. It could also lead to breaking body bones and even snapping the spine. The officer continued beating her using a thick stick until she screams: "Please "Pasha" enough...I'm the one who killed him...I'm the one who killed him..."
We can thus infer that the officer is investigating murder and that using this effective method, he caught the murderer and so justice has been done.
3- The third video...we see a man in his fourties trembling as a police officer is hurling abuse at him, raising his hand and beating the man severely. In the moment the man closes his eyes to brace the slap, the officer stops and gives him the finger. He then breaks into a fit of laughter and roams the room proudly. The officer then gets down to business, approaching the man while smoking a cigarette and using his hands to slap the man repeatedly. When the man reacts by covering his face, the officer calls his mother names, tells him to keep his hands down and continues slapping him.
4- The fourth video...the officer sits behind the camera, so we only see an old thin man over sixty years of age. He appears to be poor and ill-nourished. He is held by a muscular detective and we can hear the officer telling the detective: "Beat him, Abdul Rasoul!"
Abdul Rasoul obeys and starts beating the old man harshly, but the officer, who sounds to be in an elated mood, comments: "Too faint, too faint, Abdul Rasoul! Beat him severely!"
Abdul Rasoul beats the old man with more force, whereas the officer directs him to where he should strike the blows: "Beat the back of his neck, now beat him on the head."
Abdul Rasoul betas the old man to satisfy the officer, still the officer muses: "Too faint, too faint Abdul Rasoul."
Another detective joins in and both detectives start beating the old man savagely, proving to the officer how efficient they are. The old man is extremely weakened that he can no longer raise his hand or scream. He wears an empty look and seems completely lifeless.
Mr. President...
I have selected these videos among many available on Wael Abbas' blog Misr Digital and on many other blogs. All the videos are real, showing horrible acts of torture inflicted upon Egyptians on a daily basis...In many cases te names of the officers and the places where they work are shown in the video. Their faces are also clearly visible and can easily be identified. All of the videos have been recorded via mobile phones and have somehow found their ways to the blogs. They have been recorded by people who happen to witness the massacre. Sometimes the police officer videotapes himself while torturing people, then ciculates the tape among his colleagues, or uses it to humiliate and extort the victim. People usually record videos of happy occasions, such as wedding and graduation ceremonies. But videotaping themselves while torturing people is a bizarre behaviour which psychiatrists might help us understand.
Mr. President...
I am not asking you to intervene to stop the humiliation faced by many Egyptians daily in police stations and state security headquarters...I am not imploring you to investigate in the torture suffered by innocent people at the hands of brutal criminals who represent your regime...no...I am, just like all Egyptians, well-aware of the extent of actions that can be taken in Egypt...I just wanted to suggest some videos to entertain you on your long journey back home...welcome home, Mr. President!

الحادثة دي ليها معاني كتير قوي، معناها إن بلطجة الشرطة مستمرة وده معروف، لكن الجديد، والغريب، والرائع، إن الناس تثور وتغضب، إن الناس تقول كفاية كده وحقنا حناخده بإيدنا، إنهم يقولوا مدام القانون مش عادل ومبيقفش مع الغلابة يبقى الغلابة هما اللي ياخدوا حقهم بنفسهم.

When Women Are Scapegoats

It's amazing how the first group sacrificed at the altar of either fanaticism or secularism is women. No matter the issue, no matter where you are, women are always used as a card to win the argument, any argument, no matter what they actually think. They are used without even being given the choice to say yes or no.
But this is not a silent blog. Ever since the Niqab or face-veil started to spread in the early eighties of the past century, vicious arguments have spread among both fanatics and secularists. Fanatics argue that women are obliged by word of God to wear the Niqab, to not even show their eyes, of course stay at home and just be faithful and obedient to their husbands and folks.
Secularists believe the Niqab is the ultimate expression of opression of women and mental retardation (of course they had them mentally examined, mind you). This similarly silly argument has even somehow found its way to the president of France, instead of issuing a statement on the spiral of a Global Financial Crisis threatening many French people, he stated that Niqab is not welcome in France.
Some journalists linked between Sarkozy's comment and the murder of Marwa El-Sherbiny not much later in a German court by an Islamophobic German. They said it somehow compelled the murderer to act upon his feelings of disgust towards anything Arab and Muslim. Whereas this proposition could be true, the journalists attacked Sarkozy's comments, saying that Niqab is not the only form of mental retardation, but that frenchwomen in bikinis are also somehow oppressed.
How a person's choice of dress could actually affect, or be a result of his/her mental capabilities is just beyond me. Any example I give would be relative, so I really can't think of one. For example, if I say that a woman running around naked is stupid, it will be totally normal in a nude beach. If I say the bikini is the norm, it will be unthinkable in a devoutly Muslim middle-class Egyptian family. If I say a pair of Jeans is comfy and trendy, it will be frowned upon and probably verbally harassed in Al-Aziz Billah Street, the hub of Munaqqabat in Zeitoun, Cairo. The Hijab turns heads in Paris, and the Niqab is now a state business that Sarkozy has to abandon all that is critical on his political agenda to condemn it. Yet again, the Hijab turns heads in Saudi Arabia for totally different reasons, and you will be heavily critcised if you don't completely cover up. So really, there are no absolutes when it comes to dress, and it should be left up to everyone to decide what to freaking wear, so long as they abide by the law, even stupid Saudi Arabian laws for that matter.
Again, how can a dress be a measure of cleverness or stupidity? On what basis are they judging women in that way? So now I'm a normal person, but if I decide to wear the Niqab tomorrow, my IQ will drop by 50? Does this mean that Paris Hilton, the joke of our time, is more sensible, more clever, more logical, just because her head and arms are always bare? Some Egyptian bloggers even went so far as to call Munaqqabat '3ara3eer'. I have no idea what that means, but it makes me wanna puke.
On the other hand, what gives anyone the right to tell women what to wear, and judge them accordingly? What gives some Sheikhs the right to blame women for the calamities of our time because they're not covered up as much as they think is right? Isn't this a strictly personal issue that all you can do about is give advice if you may, but certainly not condemn? Why are many fanatics holding a cover-up or die knife for women, blaming them if someone harasses them, rapes them, kills them, because they're not covered? Why does a woman's attire always, always, has to be the first issue that arises when a Shiekh mentions women? The Hijab and then marriage, to be precise. Let me stick my dagger in your heart and ask: what about women's rights? How come I never hear Sheikhs condemning families who refuse to give orphaned women their inheritance? How come they do not condemn harassers but rather feel pity for the poor Muslim men who have to bear all of this hair on all these heads and not have their pricks harden? How come I never hear Sheikhs asking women to be more prompt about their prayers and alms for Heaven's sake, for I take a Hijab without a prayer means nothing?
I hope a voice of reason arises among these extreme voices and says: why don't you let women decide for themselves? Why do they always have to be pushed to a corner and squeezed to be able to fit into your vision of what a woman should wear?

دلوقتي عشان تجيب كتاب عدل مصر مفيهاش كتب، مصر تلاقي مثلاً أعمال شكسيبير في كل المكتبات لكن المراجع شبه مستحيل إنك تلاقيها، لازم تطلبها من بره
وعشان تطلبها من بره ممكن تلاقي الكتاب واكل ربع أو نص مرتبك بمصاريف الشحن
طبعاً ده عشان مش حاتفكر تجيب الكتاب اللي تمنه أكبر من مرتبك

أساتذة الجامعة بدل ما يطالبوا بحقوقهم مشيوا في كطرق ملتوية كل واحد في سكة
الستات اعتمدوا على إجوازهم
والإجواز اعتمدوا على الإعارة والمرمطة والشحططة
والمرفهين شوية اعتمدوا على الإعارة الداخلية
لكن طبعاً في شريحة كبيرة منهم اعتمدوا على الكتب اللي بيطبعوها
وبقوا بيحطوا ورقة أصفرا كده جوه الكتاب نكتب فيها أسامينا عشان يتأكد إن الدفعة كلها اشترت الكتاب أبو 25 جنيه
أو الدروس الخصوصية خصوصاً في الكليات العملية
يعني واحد مذلول بدل ما يتلفت ويقول للي ذاله كفاية كده
يقوم ذالل الطلبة وأهالي الطلبة
ولا كأن الطلبة بيدفعوا دم قلبهم على تعليم مش بيستفيدوا من معظمه

سألت دكتورة في قسم إنجليزي ليه مفيش دكاترة كتير حيسمعوا لفكرة الإضراب
قالت لي عشان في ناس حريصة إن تبقى علاقتها كويسة مع الناس اللي فوق
طب لما تبقوا تتوكسوا بفشل كلوي ولا سرطان وتكعوا دم قلبكوا علاج إبقوا خلوهم ينفعكوا
معلش أصل أنا مبقوقة حبتين
إيه اللي يخلي بني آدم محترم يستحمل يدرس في قاعة فيها 500 طالب من غير تكييف وصوته يروح وكباية الشاي على حسابه وفي الآخر يطلع الوزير يقول له مفيش جودة مفيش زيادة؟
عارفين الجودة دي عبارة عن إيه
إن الدكاترة يتواجدوا في مكاتبهم 7 ساعات في اليوم أربع أيام في الأسبوع ويقدموا تقارير آخر الترم بالحاجات اللي درسوها
ولا كأن الدكتور المفروض يعمل أبحاث ويروح مكاتب ويشتغل على الكمبيوتر ويلاقي أساساً كرسي يقعد عليه وتكييف شغال يرحمه من نار جهنم دي
كل القرف ده والدكاترة ماتفقوش على حاجة، اشتغلوا كنترول أربعين واحد في أوضة واحدة حاضر، إمضوا حضور وغياب زي الشطار وأنا أديكوا العيدية حاضر
كأن اللي بيدرسوا دول واللي خلاص طلعوا عالمعاش ولاد البطة السودا واللى قاعدين في مكاتبهم هما اللي بيطبقوا الجودة
الدكاترة كلهم بيكلموا في بعضهم وبيشتكوا في بعضهم لكن قليل أوي ما تلاقي حد بياخد خطوة واقعية عشان يحسن ظروفه المهببة دي
لإن الدكاترة لو اتفقوا يعملوا إضراب أو يحجبوا النتيجة زي ما أساتذة جامعة المنصورة عايزين يعملوا الدنيا بجد حاتقف
الحياة حيصيبها شلل
لإن كل واحد منهم بيدرس في المتوسط 500 طالب في الترم
المفروض الدكاترة يقبضوا قد ما بياخدوا دلوقتي مرتين تلاتة (هبلة أنا عارفة)
ما هو مش معقول مساعد الوزير اللي بياخد 250 ألف في الشهر يبقى أحسن منكوا

Obama contradicting himself

Perhaps the only difference between Obama and Bush is the first's eloquence and intelligence; intelligence, however, but not fairness or justice in any way.

I believe any discussion of a conflict should begin and end when it comes to human life. Obama has been so kind-hearted as to bring to light the torture and genocide that Jews have faced in the Holocaust and, to reduce us to tears, he spoke in numbers: We have been bereaved by losing 6 million innocent Jews who had been persecuted for many years...three thousand American men women and children who did nothing, nothing, were killed in 9/11.

What about our numbers? Has no one told you that your troops in this war you did not choose (!!) killed more than a million and a half Iraqis? No mention of them? No mention of the children killed in the Haditha killings? No mention of forcing running water into people's mouths and then ruling it out as torture? Has no one told Obama of the young boy whose brain has been dashed out under US rockets and dead body shown on the 20th of March 2003 on AlJazeera? No equality for him? So as I get it, the equality he spoke of for much of the speech applies to Muslims and other minorities in the US and for Copts in Egypt, but not to our children.

No one expects him to be the saviour, and the poeple incessantly cheering and clapping during his speech are basically dumb to think that just because his middle name is Hussein, he will be fair and just. He wants Palestinians to recognise Israel, though he also said that Palestinians have long suffered from occupation! So, according him, Palestine is occupied by a most bloody state, but who cares, the bond between the US and Israel is unbreakable, so you have to be squeezed in between.

Never in his speech did he mention anything about Muslims being victims of unholy wars and monstrous submission on the part of the rest of the world. Only Bosnians and Sudanese people have suffered, but Palestinians are muderers who fire rockets at the poor Israeli people. Palestinians who are killed, tortured, imprisoned, denied a home, denied clean water and food if any at all, should abandon violence. Emirati Emir catches torture virus!

Apparantly, an Emirati Emir found little better in Egypt, and in many of his neighbouring countries (ok. Not 'all') to imitate other than torturing an Afghani trader and crushing him with his car, thankfully or thanklessly, not to his death. Adding insult to injury, the torture rampage was actually caught on tape...doesn't it ring a bell?
I still cannot assimilate torture-I just can't comprehend it. True, I've beaten my little brother when we were young, which in my book could pass as an abuse, but I regretted it so much later and apologised to him. It never made him a better child or a better man, though, all this beating he got from my parents. He turned out reckless and hopeless, he turned out to do stuff that makes you much more tempted to beat him.
I digress; a man can beat up another or get into a fight because of anger, because of seeing red, but really, planned acts of torture are something else. Those people need to be put behind bars or just strangled for the love of God, for the love of justice.
Crime is understandable, not abnormal anymore, but being acquitted or given a light sentence is. We'll see what that Emir will face, and if he is not properly punished, the last grain of respect I have for the UAE government will be squashed.

Ahmadinejad Circus?

We know that in the dirty world of politics, there isn't much to say, weapons always speak louder, so here are simply a few notes on the Ahmadi Nejad furor:

• Israel is a racist state. It specifically targets Arabs whether in Gaza and the West Bank or within Israel. Arab-Israelis are denied proper housing and healthcare. They are denied proper education and are not allowed to study their own history. The Israeli war machine targets Arabs in particular, and has fought six wars against Arabs since it was planted in the Middle East. A recent study showed how Israelis even take up four times the amount of potable water allowed for the Palestinians. Israeli rabbis have repeatedly described Arabs as insects. If this is not racism, I wonder what is.
• Europeans champion freedom of speech. That is why they snubbed Muslim fury at the Prophet Muhammad cartoons, saying we even attack Jesus in our plays and books, so why are Muslims so angry. Now, when the President of Iran, not an amateur cartoonist, states not only his opinion but also a historical fact, the ambassador of Britain in Geneva sees that he has gone too far! So depicting our Prophet as a terrorist, when he wasn't, is freedom of speech, whereas criticising the discriminatory polices of the state of Israel, which is a documented fact, is not?
• All due respect to the victims of the Holocaust. I don't get why Netanyahu linked between the two events; the anniversary of the Holocaust and Nejad's statements. Israel as a Zionist state was the object of his criticism, not Jews per se, and I don't see why any righteous Jew should see his statements a threat!
• It takes courage, nay, it takes absolute power, to speak the truth in this circus of a world. I bow to Ahmadinejad.

المشهد الأول:

نقيب شرطة قاتل أم وجنينها يعاقب بالحبس سنة

أنا مش عارفة القاضي جاي على نفسه كده ليه؟

ما كان يديه براءة هما جات على الاتنين دول؟ الأم وجنينها؟

ما اللي اتسبب إهمالاً في موت 1034 بنى آدم اتعاقب على الورق كام ساعة على إزهاق روح

يبقى عايزين نزعل على حيالله اتنين غلابة ماتوا؟

المشهد الثاني:

خناقة في جامعة القاهرة. عااادي ياما الواحد شاف وسمع عن خناقات في الجامعة، والخناقات دي اتطورت في السنين اللي فاتت فبقت بين الأمن والطلبة وحتى بين الأمن والجامعة وكان آخرهم في نفس يوم الخناقة دي؛ يوم 6 إبريل، والمواجهات بتبقى لأسباب سياسية طبعاً، وطبعاً مفيش حد بيتضرب ويتبهدل غير الإخوان، وفي الآخر برضو هما اللي يطلعوا ولاد كلب، في الخناقة دي، ولأول مرة حسب علمي، للأسف طالب عنده 19 سنة مات. مات فطيس، بسبب بنت، أو بسبب شهامته، أو لأي سبب تاني، بس مات والأمن ماتدخلش لإنهم والكلام لمدير الجامعة لشئون التعليم والطلاب في العاشرة مساءً 180 ألف طالب الأمن يا حرام حيلاحق على مين ولا مين؟ وقال إن الخناقة كانت الساعة 6 أو 7 بالليل عشان كده ماكانش فيه حرس.

على فكرة إنت كداب في أصل وشك وإن شاء الله ما تتهنى بالكام ألف اللي بتاخدهم عشان تلحس جزمة الداخلية لإن الأمن أكيد بيبقى موجود على البوابة إن شاء الله يا رب اتنين أو تلاتة مش دول لو كانوا ضربوا رصاصة في الهوا ولا شدولهم اتنين تلاتة من العيال البلطجية دي كان الموضوع خلص؟

الحرس الجامعي موجود لقمع المظاهرات والشخط في العيال والتغليس عليهم بشكل متكرر وضربهم ده غير طبعاً التعرف على البنات وإدخال بلطجية إذا لزم الأمر.

ووقت الكنترول ألاقى ظابط داخل طالع مش عشان يراقب حسن السير لا سمح الله وأصلا ده مش حقه بس عشان يتطمن على نتيجة بنت الباشا...بأبقى عايزة أديله على قفاه، لإن ده مش مكانه

الجامعة مش مكان الحرس اللي ما هم إلا بلطجية في زي رسمي إنتوا مكانكوا السجن يا كلاب ربنا ياخدكوا وينتقم منكوا بعدله.

خادش حياء آسر...برئ!

اعترض طريق سيدة آمنة وهي بصحبة ابنة أخيها في طريقهما لتقديم واجب عزاء...استعرض مهارات قيادة السيارات "الأمريكاني ليس لغرض إلا لترويعهما...وعندما لفتت نظره إلى أنها في عمر أمه، تفوه بألفاظ جنسية نابية تخدش حيائها، وشارك مع أصدقائه في إخافتهما بالأحزمة...
كل هذا لم يشفع أمام قضائنا المحترم للزج بهذا الصبي في السجن عقاباً له على ترويع الآمنين وإهانتهم إهانة لا يمحوها الزمن ولا يخفف من وطئتها عقاب إلا قليلاً، لم يقتنع القاضي العادل بأن هذا الصبي مكانه خلف القضبان حيث المجرمين والخارجين على القانون، بل تركه يتمتع بحريته وترك آسر تشعر بالرعب من الصبي المجرم الذي دعمه القانون والذي يقطن على بعد أمتار من بيتها، لن تشعر أسر بالأمان ولن تشعر بالعدل ولن تشعر بالطمأنينة طالما سمح القضاة وسمحت الشرطة لهؤلاء الذئاب بالتواجد بيننا وممارسة أفعالهم دون محاسبة أو عقاب.
لعدم كفاية الأدلة، هي الثغرة القانونية التي أفلت بها الجاني من العقاب...في دولة الإمارات يعتبر تقدم أنثى ببلاغ تحرش إدانة ودليل كافيين، ولكن في مصر الأمر ليس كذلك، لم يقتنع القاضي بأقوال آسر ولم يستمع لأقوال ابنة أختها لأنها لم تبلغ السن القانونية...فما يجب على الضحايا فعله؟؟؟كيف يمكن إثبات أن أحدهم تعرض لهن بقول أو فعل كما ينص القانون؟؟؟ لا يوجد حامض نووي أو بصمات أو آثار عنف جسدية على الأقل، فكيف يمكن إثبات مثل هذه الجرائم؟؟؟
أنا مثلاً أتواجد في الشارع والأماكن العامة والمواصلات وحدي 80% من الوقت، فهل من المفترض أن أؤجر أحدهم حتى يكون شاهداً في حال تعرضي لتحرش؟؟؟ أليس التبليغ كافياً؟ وهل هناك فتاة تريد أن تمر بمعاناة دخول قسم الشرطة وتلفيق محضر والحضور إلى المحاكم ذهاباً وإياباً وتوكيل محامي ودفع آلاف الجنيهات فقط من أجل بلاغ كيدي؟؟؟ آسر لا تعلم المعتدي عليها، فأي بلاغ كيدي يتكلم عنه محامو الصبي؟؟؟
ليت التحالف مع المجرمين موقف القاضي فحسب، بل غير الضابط الذي حرر المحضر في قسم الشرطة من أقوال آسر وغير رقم السيارة وميعاد الحادث ليكون الثانية عشر والنصف صباحاً حتى تبدو آسر وكأنها تجوب الشوارع في أوقات "غير لائقة"!!!
لا عزاء للأمن، لا عزاء للأمان، لا عزاء للشرطة، لا عزاء للقضاء المصري العادل النزيه، لا عزاء لحقوق المرأة بل وحقوق الإنسان...

How not to get a Man

I would encourage anyone who wants to find a soul mate to follow these three steps:

I have a million things to do." Here's my crazy idea: How about actually having a million things to do? How about actually filling your life with interesting activities? If you want to attract a partner, identify what you love to do, and do it—a lot. Involved, busy people really are more attractive, so if you want to get engaged to your soul mate, start by being engaged in activities that fascinate you — especially those that have nothing to do with dating and that make you forget to go love hunting.

The Chinese Occupation of Egypt

I was trying a splendidly chic coat from "Or", a famous store in Egypt that once was under the name of "Mexx". True the buttons were loose but the wool felt so warm and finely-made. It was probably the most expensive item of clothing I ever bought; it was for 700 L.E, but it was well worth it. I suddenly noticed the "Made in Egypt" tag, and had mixed feelings.
I rarely noticed where on Earth what I buy was made, I just got what I liked and what was affordable for me and c'est ca. But buying such a good coat made by domestic hands made me feel a kind of warmth and pride. For what is patriotism if you do not do what you can to support your country's economy? We have always made fun of Egyptian products, and always preferred the -bless me- CHINESE ones. But hear me out on this story.
I got those pretty pair of ballerina shoes from Glitter, a famous accessories shop. It was made in China, and it cost 110 L.E, but what the heck, they're damn cute. The first day I wore them, I found they were marred by black lines that wouldn't get removed, not even with alcohol. No problem. It happens. Another day I was surprised to find my toes extremely dirty, then I found out that the brand new pair of shoes is neatly cut open from the front. I glued it nonetheless and wore it again. It used to be white, but now there's a huge assembly of colours that it could match just any outfit!
I started to hate chinese products, and would always look at the tags attached to the items I buy. Club Aldo is another famous shoes and bags store that sells mostly Chinese products. I got myself a white bag, and was disappointed to find it scratched all over a short time after.
Even the products of big-name stores in Egypt like Mango, Silvian Heach, H&M, Levi's etc are made in China. At one time this phrase was subtly written on a tag: Made in P.R.C. Now I know that Silvian heach is Italian, H&M Swedish, why the hell don't they sell Italian and Swedish stuff? My friend explained that they manufacture their goods in Asia because the workers get low wages there. Do I hear sweatshops? Maybe. But think about this: They sell say a pair of Jeans for a high price, maybe five times its true cost, take most of the money in their pockets and give the poor Chinese workers the minimum. This minimum, of course, could still amount to four times the salary of an Egyptian university professor. Sigh.
I hit City Stars today hoping and praying to God I would get me a medium sized black bag, Made in Egypt, in vain. I thought of Benetton, as their products are usually made in Syria, who are in the end of the day our cousins, but I found a Chinese bag that cost 544 L.E sticking out its tongue to me.
Is there any Egyptian industry, AT ALL? What have the president and the Ministry of Industry been doing in the past thirty years? Haven't they made any plans to set up factories that sell much-needed products such as world-class clothes, mobile phones (yes, I'm dreaming), PENCILS AND COPYBOOKS for Heaven's sake? Because when they actually manufacture something, the Egyptians do it very well, much better than the Chinese. I still remember the clothes I got from Mexx, Naf Naf, Dalydress, Rojada years ago that have been worn again and again and withstood time and Cairo's microbuses.
After the white choes and bag traumas, I vowed to buy Egyptian products whenever I can. But forgive me, Egypt, for today I went home carrying a black bag from H&M, Made in China.

عيل واحد تقتله الشرطة في اليونان تقوم بعدها أعمال شغب في مدن كتير وكذا بلد كمان...لكن احنا عندنا الحوادث دي بقت عادية ولا حد عمل حاجة...من حادثة المنيا للدقي والله أعلم مين تاني راح ومين تاني جاي...هل الآلاف اللي عاملين أعمال الشغب يعرفوا الولد اللي مات؟ أكيد لأ...لكن احنا للأسف مش بنتكلم غير لما يكون الضحية حد نعرفه (ده في حالة إننا بني آدمين طبيعيين عندنا دم) بس غير كده مفيش ولا حاجة بتتعمل خالص ليه؟ يا ترى الناس خايفة إنهم يبقوا الضحايا اللي جايين...ولا الناس مش عارفة وبتقضي أيامها تجري ورا لقمة العيش من غير حتى ما تلاقي وقت تاكلها...

الأسباب اللي فاتت أهون من السبب اللي خايفة أقوله، إن احنا بقينا مش جاسن بآدميتنا، الحوادث أكتر من الهم على القلب والجريمة انتشرت والحقوق ضاعت وبقت جرايم الدبح والتقطيع والتعذيب عادية جدا لدرجة جالنا تبلد مشاعر وبنبقى عايزين نعرف التفاصيل من باب التشويق...وكلمة القتل بقت سهلة علينا.

Yet Another Victim...

Nothing makes sense when it comes to murder, especially when the murderer is the very person supposed to protect you.
On the 9th of October, a police force killed a pregnant woman in Menoufia. She was not the first victim to be killed by Egyptian police forces, and she probably won't be the last, and there's just no solution in sight. Who do you turn to, when your protector is your torturer, murderer? What can you do but feel an unexpressable anguish and just pray to God that justice be done one day?
There is nothing to be done expect to speak, to break the silence; ad'aaf el Iman. Spread word. I do not want the day to come when even crimes goes unspoken of.
